Neptune's shift into Pisces receives reinforcements in the form of Mercury, planet of the mind, and Pallas, the asteroid of intelligence, achievement, and solving problems through identifying patterns in one's life. Areas of foggy confusion receive an injection of clarity, which helps give form to our impressions and feelings.

Mercury trines stabilizing Saturn on Monday, providing grounding to our relationships and planning. Mercury shifts into Pisces on Tuesday (Valentine’s Day) and makes a conjunction to inspired, romantic, and sometimes delusional Neptune. Cloudiness, idealism, imagination, nebulousness, sensitivity, psychic, drugs, alcohol, the arts, creativity, compassion, and intuition are just a few descriptors of the planet Neptune. Since 1998 Neptune has been transiting Aquarius, the ruler of technology, astrology, the Internet, and brotherly love. On Friday, February 3^rd Neptune ingresses (moves into) its home sign of Pisces for a transit that will last until the year 2025.

New navigation skills will unfold as we get acquainted with this energy shift in the sign that swims in the waters of feeling and intuition. In Pisces we are encouraged to develop stronger empathy and intuitive connectedness. In Aquarius Neptune prompted connectedness through technology, social media, and the digitization of music and art. In Pisces Neptune beckons us to connect through our spirituality and compassion. We are reminded that we are all in this boat called humanity, making our way through our collective and individualized journeys.

The first three weeks of the New Year are unprecedented in that all the planets are moving forward. Typically, we have at least one or two in retrograde motion. In translation this means that now is the time for change, to make decisions, and to initiate action. Action will now have staying power devoid of hold-ups, miscommunications, and glitches. But there is one caveat: the energy ruling desire, willpower, ego assertion, and physical energy is slowing down. Mars, which usually moves forward a degree every two days, will now take five days due to his imminent retrograde on the 23^rd. He will be lingering between 20–23 degrees of Virgo all month.

So, for planning purposes, be aware that what is initiated in the area of your chart that Mars is transiting will have the GREEN light but a sense of completion around these very areas may take longer than you anticipate. Mars will turn retrograde on the 23^rd (although we are now feeling a slow down) until mid-April. There is more to your “assumptions” than is currently shown. We have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse happening on the 10th at 18 degrees Gemini. It’s always a wise rule of thumb to wait a week after the Eclipse before making major decisions. Mercury is in its final week of retrograde, which provides an even stronger need to hold off on final commitments, large expenditures, and long-term planning until after the 14th.

Uranus moves direct at 0 degrees of Aries on the 10th, where it has been in retrograde since July 9th. Forward movement will reengage in areas that are in need of dynamic movement and personal revolution. Mercury—the planet that rules over our thoughts, articulation, travel, cars, communications, and commercial transactions—is retrograding on November 24th (Thanksgiving Day) at 20 degrees Sagittarius. The energy pulls inward and favors introspection, planning, review, servicing cars and equipment, editing activities in writing and presentations, and revisiting former sales prospects.

What is NOT favored during Mercury retrograde periods are large purchases (electronics, cars, homes), the signing of new and binding contracts, initiating lawsuits, and new marketing and public relations campaigns. Back up your computers, send cc’s when emailing, and repeat yourself often and simply, knowing that the communication process between people is skewed and irregular. This is a time to gather additional information and remember that we do not have all the facts with which to make knowledgeable decisions. Mercury will begin to inch forward on December 14th.

The Sun shifts into Sagittarius on the 22nd followed by a square to Chiron (as Venus and Mercury did earlier this month). This highlights sensitivity within our identity and ego needs. Dreams have been an active part of my life all of my life. Since I've been a kid they have been a omnipresent force in my reality. Rebus is the representation of a phrase in the form of pictures. The rebus of "raise in bread" can manifest in the picture form of baking raisin bread. The car that is running low on gas in your dream suggests the need for rest and rejuvination. Dreaming of waves overcoming the house you live in reflect your conscious feeling of being emotionally overwhelmed.

The prefrontal cortex, the part of our brain associated with logical thinking recedes to the background while dreaming and is overtaken by the limbic system which controls emotions. Emotions are the driving force of the engine called humanity. However you want to slice and dice it people make emotional decisions and then shape their rationalization to serve the emotional desire.

There is a fellow who is paid a lot of money in the car industry who studies the lizard brain. He knows that humans don't make car purchases based soley on rational thought but on the emotions the vehicle evokes. Body language experts will tell you that emotions don't lie and how often have you witnessed when the words don't match up to the body language? Often, it flows all around us and all we need do is pay attention to what is really being communicated.

Dreams deal with emotions and much more. It is one of the ways to connect directly to Source energy. We are not hypocrites in our dreams we delve right into the heart of the matter without anything being put "on us." Dreams aren't interested in social acceptability much like the influence of Pluto in the chart. What needs to go? What needs to stay? How do we "really" feel about social mores and conditioning?

There was a period in my life when I was dreaming about snakes - frequently. Have you have seen the documentary "The Corporation?" It treats the corporate world as an entity, a living breathing force and how it impacts our behavior, ethics and ego. The film likens corporations to psychopaths and paints a very convincing premise.

Often, the snake would be in my view but not dangerous. My dream wanted to bring me "information" about a situation or perhaps a person's character. If the snake actually bit me then I knew there was a real problem up ahead. And, I did have a couple of dreams when the fangs made contact with my flesh and a then a viable problem of one sort or another would materialize within a three week period. My time stamp in precognitive dreams appear within a three week or three month period. It's just the way it works for me but would love to hear about your time lapse between dreaming and manifestation.

Precognitive dreaming, as I have written about before, is dreaming about something that seemingly happens in the future. Many, many folks have precognitive dreams and don't even know it. For me, differentiating between this type of dreaming and others is experienced as similar to viewing a film on a large movie screen. I awake with very little emotional reaction yet aware of the relayed information.

How can that be? How can you dream of future events? Perhaps some important clues can be found in Einstein's theory of time as he believed that time may move in a spiral manner rather than the industrialized notion of linear. Quantum physics suggests that there are alternative realities moving along a contiuum concurrently.

The subconscious mind, Soul or Spirit is the "observer" within our body and can see more than what the mind can consciously process. This information is released and given pictorial voice while dreaming.

We incorporate learning, vent socially unacceptable emotions and feelings as well as ponder possibilities before manifesting. For some, this connectedness is more developed than others but I believe we are all born with this avenue of exploration.

IF you are interested in remembering your dreams make that suggestion to your subconscious mind just prior to bedtime. ASK that you begin to remember your dreams on a regular basis. Keep a journal or record them upon awakening. Patterns emerge while yet another layer of self-discovery is embarked upon. ~

Chiron is stationing direct on Friday the 11th. We are entering a long-term energy cycle of identifying hurts and wounds associated with our emotional experiences here on earth. Often, these imprints are buried within our consciousness and affect us in ways that are operating below the surface. Chiron’s transit of Pisces asks us to be aware of those wounding conditions in order to integrate and heal. We have a long time to work with this evolving awareness.

Mars opposes Chiron on the 12th and brings clues about the first leg of our Chiron journey. Being aware and available to receive the information this combination brings may help shed light on areas of wounding you’ve sustained during this incarnation.

Serving as a bridge, on the same day Saturn quincunxes Pluto. This creates tension between the need for security and caution and the simultaneous pull towards deep change and transformation. Mercury and Venus are close traveling partners. They have now moved into Sagittarius after working through some deeper emotional elements while transiting Scorpio. Pluto, the transformer and major player in the Occupy the Planet movement, began moving forward in mid-September. Earlier this summer, while in retrograde, he made a flowing and comforting aspect to the planet Jupiter, which represents growth, education, and opportunity. Pluto is now moving direct and Jupiter is in retrograde.

Think back to early July for clues to the trine that will be exact again during the last week (the 2nd of 3) of this month. This trine will carry a stronger and more supportive imprint than its first contact in July.

The New Moon in Scorpio on the 26th at 3 degrees will oppose Jupiter and sextile Pluto, bringing intuitive insight and a deeper sense of wellbeing. Mars makes a challenging connection to Venus and requires us to take action. There is the strong possibility of incongruity between our desires, resources, and possibly even relationships.

As the numbers continue to grow well into the thousands I think we can safely assume that the American “Spring” has sprung. The first official statement of the protestors in Zuccotti Park in NYC was accepted by the General Assembly on September 29th (see the statement here: Declaration of the Occupation in New York City). Disgust can be a strong motivating force, especially when justice is on your side.

Steve Jobs’ passing last week is a strong reminder to embrace the authentic and find the way to live with your inner passions and, yes, as is so often quoted, “shrug off dogma.” Living a life whose foundational base is built on fitting in and living up to family and societal expectations is draining – for the mind, heart, frequently the body, and the Soul. He is an icon for this time of individuation and truth.

Where do your personal truth, passion, and authenticity lie? Inner peace and the expanding energy of love are part of this equation too. Many are in this stage of inner exploration, pondering, and experimentation. The inner litmus test is what feels powerful, truthful, and loving for you.

Two weeks ago I was preparing for a client call and discovered I had inadvertently turned on my digital recorder prior to the client session – I discovered my error and turned it off. When I played the mistaken recording back I heard a man’s voice on the recording very clearly repeating the word “hurdle, hurdle.” There was no one else in the room with me – well, not that I could “see” anyway when I had accidentally turned my recorder on that morning.

This is an apt reminder as we engage with the Scorpionic energies that those veils, which seemingly divide us from Source, spirit, and angelic energies, are thinner than we think. Gary Zukov calls it the multi-sensory, which is engaging with our inner senses and remembering who we are – divine and loving creators connected with energy that is constantly flowing. This energy is ours to use and align with when we are awake and aware.

Mercury moved into Scorpio (with Venus) on the 13th. The energies of communication shifted from the outwardly relationship-oriented to the hidden, intuitive, possessive, and, for some, suspicious. Eros (Cupid) the asteroid representing desire, lust, sex, passion, and creativity eased into Cancer on the 11th where the embers burn nurturing hot until mid-November. Why Visit an Astrologer?

I find people reach out and schedule appointments when they are feeling uncomfortable while undergoing change. Often, their experience of life has reached a level of unease and in some cases extreme discomfort. Frequently, at the root of the discomfort is the feeling that they can't be or express who they really are or give confident voice to what they are feeling and if it is ok to feel what they are feeling! Astrologers provide a template to what the client is most often "already" experiencing. Rarely has an appointment unfolded in a surprising manner for the person seeking the session. People know they are going through something - a shift, an awakening or transition that is often accompanied by feelings of insecurity.

Energy is everywhere and running all the time. We live in a world of cycles and being aware of your energy cycles provides validation, understanding, awareness and a level of comfort. When tension is present you can often affirm that growth is lying in wait. To go deeper into the purpose of the current challenge or crises helps people to empower themselves and know that they will be ok, that they'll get through it and often even thrive. Astrology provides context and time frames.

When too much dogma and shoulds are present people struggle against change even more ferverently. "I can't do THAT, what would my father think?" Many beliefs people hold about themselves are beliefs they never even really chose. Through societal conditioning, family expectations and imprints, many an authetic desire, need and expression has been thwarted. The ability to look at the influences with a clearer lens can be the key to emancipation :). Often, the direct result is a stronger sense of self and well being. "I've always loved writing and used to write short stories and poems but I can't make a living doing that...."

When I was a kid my Mom often told me, "You are so sensitive." :) I wasn't touchy sensitive but sensitive to people and things. I would see things, dream things and feel things about the emotional situations of other people. I doubt this comes as a surprise as so many people experience it too. In essence, I was being told that "who I am" is not right, or workable or functional. Thankfully, my Grandma Grace was "too sensitive too." She gave me a four volume book on Edgar Cayce when I was 11 yrs. old and it resonated for me as truth. Gram threw me a much needed life line and I'm guessing many others could use a similiar gesture in acknowledging and affirming who they are and what they need.

I'm very strong with organization, processes and grasp fairly easily technically oriented "stuff." As a result, I used to do that full time for a living. I was good at it. Yet, the very things I was good at did not "give" me energy. I would feel drained at the end of the day. Ever have that feeling? Sometimes there is a difference between doing what you are good at and doing what you love.

Doing what you love gives energy and if you love it you're usually going to get good doing it.

Steve Jobs, in a commencement speech made at Stanford asserted, "If you wake up too many mornings in a row not loving what you do, it's time to do something different." Jobs hasn't revolutionized the way we interact with our world because he is simply good at what he does.

This is probably true for the people in our lives too - the school of relationships. If we are involved with people that for too long continue to drain energy it is probably a good idea to ponder why we continue to participate. Now, I know there are some relationships that seemingly carry life committments but even then if toxicity is consistently present it may be time to cut bait. You have the inherent right to define your boundaries of what you are emotionally available for and what you are not.

Perhaps our increasing need to self-medicate would dissipate if we felt comfortable being who we are, voicing what we think, and loving the people and vocations that juice us.

WHY THE BAD WRAP?

Well, like so many collective beliefs we can harken back to the days of old and noodle around in the archives. Back in the 1500's a fellow by the name of Copernicus discovered that the planets did not rotate around the earth but rather the sun. The Catholic Church asserted that everything rotated around the earth, that we are the spiritual center of the cosmos and any other assertion was an act of heresy. Actually, Copernicus made passage through the Christian power brokers unscathed. But, in the 1600's a gentleman by the name of Galileo picked up on Capernicus's findings and continued to refine and polish the scientific model. Galileo invented the telescope and also developed scientic theories around the Laws of Motion. He was a pretty gifted engineer in his day and admired by fellow scholars and aristocracy alike.

Pope Urban was head of the Catholic Church in Rome and was a great friend and admirer of Galileo. But, the Pope was getting involved in expensive wars and was enmeshed in political intrigues. What was once fine as theory metamorphised into irritation. After a series of visits to Rome to testifying in front of the governing body, Galileo was found to be a heretic and sentenced to house arrest for the remainder of his life. The propoganda machine was in play and reverberates through the centuries like so many inherited beliefs. Many people do not know "why" they believe what they do and the clues are often embedded in the past.

Demonstrations are heating up as the Uranus/Pluto energy is clearly being outwardly manifested here in the US. The Occupy Wall Street movement is propagating to more cities and towns across the country in what is now termed Occupy the Planet. We are firmly in the era of individuals speaking truth, no longer content to go along in collusion with the power entities which have been “hiding and abusing” truth. “One hero cannot do it. Each one of us have to be heroes,” stated John Lennon. And, please give a listen to this original song, “A Truth Anthem” by Jordan Okrend it’s beautiful and in my mind embodies the right use of energy as we speak out and act upon injustices.

Similar to the Arab Spring, these acts of civil disobedience (asserted by the NYPD when protesters from the Occupy Wall Street movement marched across the Brooklyn Bridge—and were arrested by police) are the result of individuals collectively gathering to speak out. Notice that Pluto turned direct on the 16th in the bureaucratic sign of Capricorn – the protestors first began to congregate in lower Manhattan on the 17th. Astrologers don’t make this stuff up, folks :).

The lover of beauty, art, justice, and all things esthetic is making her much loved connections this week. Venus will remind us that love, understanding, and compassion are our best energetic forces during these transformative times, which continue to encourage us to stretch, grow, change, and be brave.

On Friday, Neptune trines Venus. This is a day when inspiration and aligning with compassion come easily. Venus then trines informative and healing Chiron as she moves out of Libra and into Scorpio. Passion is the energetic force of Scorpio and her transit will deepen the stakes in both love and money.

The Full Moon shines in Aries at 18 degrees on the 11th and reaches fullness at 9:06 p.m. EST. This lunation opposes Saturn in Libra, highlighting responsibilities, commitments, and, for some, breaking points. The Sun Saturn conjunction moves towards us with heavy steps on Thursday, bringing more follow through and focus around issues highlighted at the Full Moon. For the past five months Pluto has been in retrograde (think back to early April when Pluto stationed retrograde). Pluto tends to shake things up when he stations and he is stationing at 4 degrees Capricorn on the 16th. Expect a few rumblings as this transformative energy starts lumbering forward in the area of your chart representing deep-seated and long-term change.

Shortly thereafter, on the 18th , Venus in her home sign of Libra squares up to Pluto, suggesting a time of tension and struggle surrounding love, money, and personal values.

Since early August Mars has been transiting the water sign of Cancer. Mars now moves into a more receptive energy when he enters Leo on the 17th. While the East Coast cleans up and dries out post Hurricane Irene, Mercury re-enters Virgo and immediately passes the shadow point period of retrograde last month while opposing Chiron on the 10th. Oppositions are about awareness and this one takes place on the Virgo / Pisces axis. My intention was to film and post monthly videoscopes this week but true to Mercury Retrograde form - life and technology was not acquiescing to my intention. So I am planning for September’s Videos to be posted next week knowing this is prime time for the Universe to giggle as we make our plans :).

We also have a Category 3 Hurricane (at this writing) projected to hit the Outer Banks of North Carolina early Sunday morning so the next few days require us coastal residents to be extra aware and fluid.

Mercury is turning stationary direct on Friday at 5:02 p.m. EST at 18 degrees Leo. Please follow all of the usual precautions of buying, selling, and decision making on the days prior and after its station – it’s called the Mercury Storm period for a reason. Mercury will move out of its Shadow (the degree in which it retrograded) on September 10th once it surpasses 1 degree of Virgo.

The New Moon is on Monday the 29th at 5 degrees of Virgo. Virgo is the helper, critic and processor of the Zodiac. Virgo is an earth sign that is interested in discrimination, health, nutritious food, and being of service to others.

Jupiter the planet of opportunity, learning, education and expansion turns retrograde on August 30th until just after the Christmas holiday while retrograding back to the Aries point of 0 degrees before moving direct in December.

This is the final week of missed communications, delayed decisions, and misinformation as Mercury completes its final week in retrograde – it turns direct on August 26th but give him some breathing room the days prior and the days following its station.

The lowest domestic spending since the Eisenhower era is just one of the results of the budget deal announced by President Obama Sunday evening at 8:40 p.m. EST. Per what should be expected during a Mercury Retrograde cycle, it was also announced that a bipartisan committee will be formed to put forth a proposal with further cuts by November 23rd.

The US is a Cancer-ruled country and Mars entered the sign of Cancer on August 3rd. He will be hitting the Cardinal Cross points during the first half of the month. Generosity, childlike play, drama, authenticity, and heart energy are a few of the qualities represented by the expression of Leo. The Sun joins Mercury in Leo on the 22nd. Mercury in Leo shows power on the mental plane, dramatic flair and bright minded inquisitiveness. Natal Mercury in Leo can also believe that their version of things is the "only" version.

Venus joins in on the Lion's energy on the 29th displaying her grand dame tendencies and enthusiasm for the theatrical.

The collective planets Uranus, Pluto, Chiron and Neptune are all traveling in retrograde, reviewing, and deepening the lessons and the learning. The Uranus/Pluto square has been in effect for some time and will reach its exact square in the summer of 2012. We are all in a preparatory period. For some, this has been a jarring time filled with upheaval and enforced growth. Our perception of security and continuity is challenged which opens us up to step into the present to review our beliefs and assumptions. Continuing to stay awake, and standing in the present awareness of the bridge between what was and what is in the "process" of becoming may feel challenging. Mercury follows suit shortly as he readies himself for a review period beginning on August 2nd. He takes a few short steps into Virgo on the 29th but immediately slows down in his tracks and re-enters Leo on August 9th. As always, Mercury Retrograde is not an advantageous time for initiating big new projects or purchases. Stick to the projects that were already undertaken this year.

ARIES: Creative energy is heightened with the Sun and then Venus's entry into your 5th house. You will have time to refine and perfect throughout the month of August.
